Driftwood is a small and peaceful tree enclosed site with five hard-standing pitches and electrical hook-ups. There is also an area for small tents. The site has a clean, modern shower and toilet building with hot and cold water. Within walking distance, metres is the Crown and Anchor pub which sells excellent home cooked food and real ales and also offers stunning views across the Humber Estuary. Next to the sea, about metres away, is the Blue Bell cafe where you can buy tea, coffees, sandwiches snacks etc. There are plenty of coastal walks within the area and it is popular with cyclists too. There is easy access for fishing both at sea and along the River Humber. The area is a haven for wildlife and is the mainland’s most important site for migratory birds and as well as the many common species to be seen rarities are recorded on a regular basis. The nearest seaside town is Withernsea 10 miles , whilst further up the coast are the Hornsea Free Port 27 miles and Bridlington 42 miles.

Surviving off hook-up
The most common question asked and in some ways the most difficult as it will depend on five main factors. A do you have a mover? B does your van have an Alarm? C do you use your van off Electric Hook Up?
Each electrical hook-up pitch will be provided with a 6 amp supply. A 6 amp supply allows for low consumption electric only. For example you can power a fridge, lights, TV and charge a mobile phone or other accessory with a 6 amp supply.
Throughout this Guide the term caravan is used to refer to both. In the view of many electrical experts, a PIR is vital to ensure continued electrical safety for all caravan installations. In the UK, when a new caravan is built, the electrical installation is inspected and tested and a certificate is issued to verify that the installation meets the current safety requirements. However, over time, an electrical installation is likely to deteriorate due to damage, wear and tear, corrosion and environmental effects.
So, a Periodic Inspection and Report is needed to ensure that the electrical installation in a caravan remains safe. Chapter 62 of BS details the scope, extent and frequency of the Periodic Inspection. Content The guide has three separate sections containing advice to NCC members: Touring park operators 1. A workshop can offer a PIR as part of an annual habitation service or as a stand alone service.
A copy of the waiver form can be obtained through the NCC.

Just like a fuse, MCBs sit in the live feed to prevent excessive electrical current being drawn. However, whereas excess electricity in a fuse makes a fuse wire melt, an MCB switch will trip i. To make the circuit live again, all you have to do is flick the switch back. Trying to draw more will trip out the supply.
Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival is a firm favourite on the festival calendar, with a loyal following of fervent fans that return year on year.
The inexpensive plug-in mains tester indicates any fault in the campsite mains supply, such as reverse polarity, or missing earth, and can also be used to test all the other socket outlets in the van. In our simple 12volt installation, the van and leisure batteries are kept entirely separate; the van starter battery cannot be used to power the fridge or any other 12volt item installed. In this instance we assume the solar panels are not producing a useable output.
There are alternatives to having a bank of switches, meters and lights mounted separately on a panel in this fashion. A look at Pro-converters vans will show what is available – although some systems will be expensive and may be difficult for a self-builder to obtain and install. We like the simplicity of discrete items – if anything fails we can easily find and isolate the problem.
Complex systems which combine services with displays and touch screens, that include power supplies, charging, fusing, etc. This is a clever, if expensive, item but then it was developed for the marine environment so should be reliable. Simply, on start-up the charger monitors the voltage of the van starter battery; if there is insufficient voltage present, then the charger will just continue to monitor, but not try to charge the leisure batteries.

High quality plastic housing. Rubber entry grommet on rear to help keep water out and provide a strain relief for the cable. Screw terminal connections and cable clamp.
This means that the actual required recharge current is lower than stated, but I like the idea of the solar array providing the peak current for your load, guaranteeing that your battery is receiving all the required power it needs. The other reason to calculate the charge current using the peak value is that it will be highly likely your array will be in the shade at some stage of the day. This reduces the amount of current produced by the panel and the additional allowance gives a pretty good buffer.
I have bought 2 x Sunergy W panels rated at 6. Now thats more like it! Healthy margin above the required This one is interesting because with the higher load from the Engel running all night the battery will be more discharged by morning. So, how will this system perform?

Benefit from expert advice, retail discounts and money off pitch night stays when you join the Club. This will be a nominal V, single phase, 50Hz supply, which is compatible with UK and modern European caravans, motorhomes, trailer tents, folding campers and tent hook-up connections. This electrical supply can be used either directly to power V equipment or indirectly via a power supply unit that converts the mains power at V AC to a nominal 12V DC, usually in conjunction with a leisure battery.
This Data Sheet looks at how to use this electricity supply safely and discusses its limitations. Because your unit is mobile there is a greater likelihood of things going wrong with an electrical installation than with the fixed installation within your house. It is therefore important you make sure your cables and equipment are maintained in good condition by simple checks every time you use it, by regular inspections by a qualified technician and also by using it in a sensible way.
Campsite owners and management team in the case of the Club, the Club and its Holiday Site Managers are responsible for the safety of the electrical supply equipment up to the socket outlet on the site bollard where you connect your hook-up cable. Supply bollard A typical supply bollard A pitch with electrical hook-up will have an electrical supply bollard within about 20 metres.
Each Club hook-up bollard is individually protected against overload by a miniature circuit breaker MCB and a residual current device RCD. The MCB is a device to protect the site cabling from overloading and limits the amount of current you can draw from the supply. Hook-ups on Club sites have maximum ratings of 10A or 16A and this will limit the number of appliances you can use at one time see the How much power section.
The RCD is designed to cut off the supply if a fault occurs in your connecting lead, caravan or other camping unit. However, to maximise safety your unit should have its own RCD.
